In a recent Wall Street Journal article cleverly titled “Fleur to Ceiling,” writer Yelena Moroz Alpert, suggested that “after decades as pattern non grata, floral motifs are budding again in interior design—letting the Covid-weary and technology fatigued bring ‘nature’ indoors.” The late Mario Buatta, legendary interior decorator selected in Architectural Digest’s Top 100, loved floral chintz fabrics so much he became known as The Prince of Chintz. He was friend of Decorating Den Interiors and use to attend many of our events. He’d be heralding today’s return of flower power in spaces.
Wallcovering on one wall can provide both a gorgeous focal point along with a contrast to other non-patterned décor (above left). Or, using floral draperies with co-ordinating bedding gives this home guest bedroom an inviting feel and a touch of whimsy.
